All the children in Year 4 had an exciting “Exodus Walk”! We all looked like Isrealites dressed up in long and tatty clothes covered with scarves. Moses led us through the parting of the Red Sea. Some people were waving blue sparkly strings around and we all walked through the sea shouting and singing “Deep in the Ocean”.

We walked and walked through the desert. It was hot! All of us were tired, we moaned and groaned and started shouting at Moses, “We are hungry”, “We are thirsty”.  Then Moses prayed to God and God sent us quail and we all had some rice crackers and pretended it was manna sent from heaven. Then Moses hit the rock with his long staff and water came out of the rock. So we drank water from our drink bottles. It was wonderful to see how God provided food and drink for us in the desert.

While we were waiting for Moses, suddenly we heard a loud thunder and saw a bright shining light coming from the sky that was God. It was amazing! God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on a stone. Moses read them to us and asked us to follow those commandments. Then we continued our journey through the car park and through the top field. We listened to the story of Joshua and the spies. There were 12 spies who ran down the hill searching and examining the promised land to see if we could go and live in that land. Some of the spies said that we couldn’t live there because the giants were too big and tough, and we cannot fight and win them. But some of us believed that we could win the battle.

Next we came to the Sabbath space. There Moses died and Joshua became the new leader and led the Isrealites. Here we listened to the story about the battle of Jericho.  Some of the children from Room 15 marched around Rooms 16 and 17 seven times playing instruments and the wall came tumbling down. It was another wonder how God helped us to win the battle.

Mrs. Noble-Campbell reminded us about the ten commandments and explained how Jesus made it easy for us because we only have to follow two commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself”.

All of us enjoyed and had a little glimpse of how it is like to follow Moses and cross the Red Sea and imagine many wonders on our Exodus walk.
