Kia ora tatou,
Your Board trusts that you are all keeping well and managing to navigate the strange and unfamiliar times we are currently navigating.
As your Board gathered last week, via Zoom for the third consecutive time, we were sadly reminded of the social and communication challenges caused by the current COVID-19 alert restrictions for our community, students and school staff members.
During these trying times our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
We are extremely appreciative of the resilience of students and their families who, despite enduring many weeks of emergency remote learning, are still persevering with their work and doing their best to support the learning activities offered by our staff.
We are very thankful to our teachers who have risen to the challenges of remote teaching. The way they have shown great empathy in supporting our students’ well-being and responded positively to the ongoing changes requested by the Ministry of Education is a credit to them.
Thank you also to our community for your support. We would not be able to support the programmes in place if it was not for your contributions. We appreciate the way you have adapted as necessary to the ever changing world we currently live in. Thank you for doing your best to stay safe for the good of our students. The cancellation of events, such as our school gala, which we were all looking forward to, is disappointing but necessary. Like you, we are looking forward to gathering together once again where we will be able to celebrate the joy that is evident amongst all whenever we meet.
The Board personnel have gone through a couple of changes over the last few weeks. We had to “virtually” say farewell to one of our Proprietors Representatives, Sunil Serrao and are pleased to announce that Sharon Yeh has joined us.
While in lockdown, your Board has continued to work towards our property goals. The COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) manufacturer is gearing up and has confirmed that, as soon as the regional borders are lifted, and it becomes safe for them to work on site, our school will be the first one to see our long awaited new outdoor learning area installed. Synthetic turf specifications and purchases are also being finalized.
Repair jobs on our school property continue to be conducted, and additional painting will be completed during the summer holidays.
To support digital learning in our school the Board approved the purchase of some additional Lego & Sphero resources which will be utilised once we are back at school.
We are all looking forward to our students being able to go back to school physically, even if it means following new and strict health and safety requirements.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all our students and their families.
Until next time
Stay safe and keep well
Nga mihi nui
