October – the month of the Holy Rosary
Dear Families,
This certainly was not the way we thought our school term would begin, still remaining under Level 3 restrictions.
I acknowledge that as time goes on it becomes increasingly difficult to keep home learners motivated and engaged, however, your efforts in this space are so valued and we are very appreciative of how families are showing those dispositions of grit and determination in persevering with school led learning from home at this time.
We are hoping the announcement on Tuesday of next week will give primary schools some guidance to help us plan a pathway forward to the end of the school year. Once the Ministry of Education has made it’s plans clear we will be in a position to shape up what this looks like at OLSOS and keep you informed all the way.
In the meantime, kia kaha.
Fakaalofa lahi atu! We are Celebrating Niue Language Week!
This week, in celebration of Niue Language week the theme is Kia Tupuolaola e Moui he Tagata Niue which means May the Tagata Niue thrive.
Kia tupuolaola e moui he Tagata Niue, reminds us of the importance of our Pacific languages and cultures and how they contribute to spiritual, emotional, physical and social wellness for prosperity and wealth in the home, community and nation.
This year’s theme reflects the overarching 2021 Pacific Language Week theme of Wellbeing, by linking the importance of language to overall wellbeing. Monuina e aho!
A reminder that Monday 25 October is Labour Day Holiday – NO SCHOOL or EMERGENCY SCHOOL LED LEARNING
New Zealand ShakeOut
On Thursday 28th October at 9.30am New Zealand will hold a nationwide Earthquake drill. We encourage all families to hold their own drill at home. Classroom teachers will be sending out information on how you can join New Zealand and practise DROP, COVER and HOLD and make a plan to keep safe as a family.
