Last week some of the Travelwise children attended an Auckland Transport event in the city at the Cloud.  It was to celebrate all of the hard work that schools do to promote Travelwise around their school.  There were 87 schools that attended the celebration.

We started the day with a yummy morning tea that was provided by Auckland Transport.  We were then sent on “The Great Travelwise Challenge”.  It was a bit like The Amazing Race.  We had 2 hours to answer 25 questions.  We had to go to the Maritime Museum, Wynyard Quarter and the Ferry Terminal to find the answers.   Once we found the answers we had to have our photo taken beside it to prove that we had found it.  While we were out and about we were given puzzle pieces which we had to put together at the end of the challenge.  We were the 7th team to finish.

After lunch and an ice cream treat, we then had an awards presentation.  Schools were given out either a Gold, Silver or Bronze award depending on how many Travelwise activities their school had completed throughout the year.  We were very proud to receive a Gold Award.  We even got to shake hands with our new mayor Phil Goff.  We had an absolutely fantastic day and hope that our school can continue to be a fantastic Travelwise school in the future.
