We were chatting together at reading time and thought it would be a good idea to help the Cancer Foundation. We told our parents who started to support the idea. We chose the Cancer Foundation because we knew people both in our families and at school, who had cancer and some who had died of cancer. The money may be used for the medicines needed, blankets or pillows or maybe for the waiting area, families and maybe toys for the children who are sick.
We thought we would just make cupcakes and have marshmellow, and juice but then the idea grew and we ended up with popcorn, oreo biscuits dipped in chocolate, and pink ribbon chocolate. Everything was the colour pink. Sarah’s mum rang the cancer Society and they supported us with ribbons and balloons to decorate the cake stall area. Sarah’s mum also rang Mrs Fairweather and asked if it was possible to hold the cake stall at school at 2.30 when all the mums were picking up their children and also children could buy a cake after school. All the food cost $1 or $2. We were surprised at the crowd that turned up and bought our goodies and WOW we managed to raise $581.60. We thank our Mums and Nanas who worked hard baking and helped on the day with the selling.
