ROAD SAFETY AND PARKING

Children are supervised by the duty teacher to cross the road every afternoon.

Bus transport will collect and unload children within the bus bay.

The staff car park and bus bay remains ‘out of bounds’ for unsupervised children at all times for safety reasons.  Therefore no parking is available in this area for the school community.

Parents must observe the ‘No Parking’ restrictions (Yellow lines, cones, and signs).

Please DO NOT enter the school grounds (unless special arrangement is made) or stop over drivewys to pickup or drop off children.

Caregivers are to safely drop off and collect children in a managed and safe way.  Where regular infringements occur, an initial warning letter will be sent to the offender followed by a letter to Manukau City Council for prosecuting, should inappropriate parking and driving behaviour continue.

KEA CROSSING

Adjacent to the school entrance on Oakridge Way a supervised Kea Crossing operates between 8.30 – 8.45 a.m. and 2.45 – 3.00 p.m. on school days.  Members of the Patrol Team are trained by the Police Education Officer.  Supervisors too are appointed via a letter from the Board of Trustees.

CYCLES

Children Year 3 and below are discouraged from riding cycles and scooters to school.

There is a cycle area where cycles are to be placed on arrival at school.

Pupils must not ride or scoot their bikes in the grounds between 8.25 a.m. and 3.15 p.m.

While riding bikes to and from school, pupils are required to wear safety helmets.

All children and parents crossing the road must comply with Ministry of Police expectations.
