SCHOOL  - HOME COMMUNICATION

·          There is a newsletter on the first Friday of each Term.  Regular newsletters are sent to parents via email, on a fortnightly basis thereafter to keep them informed about school matters and the dates of coming events.  To have these emailed newsletters go to the School Links page and sign up.  Click this link.

·          An Event sheet outlining happenings during the term is sent out early in each term.  Events and dates are then confirmed in subsequent newsletters.

·          An Information Booklet is also sent home at the commencement of the school year to inform and reinforce school organisation.

·          A term overview is also sent home from each of the three school teams.

·          An informal meeting of parents and staff is organised by the P.T.A. early in Term I.  Each Term in Week 8 an information meeting for families new to the school is held.  This is also a chance to meet some staff and parents of children starting at the same time as your child.

·          Parent / pupil / teacher conferences take place in Term 1 to discuss the child’s initial progress.  At the end of Term 2 and Term 4 parents receive a full oral report on their child’s progress using collated data from the Essential Learning and Skill areas as the basis.  The Portfolio of respective children’s assessment will have been sent home in the week prior to the conference.

·          If the need arises, you may like to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher firstly, then the senior staff member of the team, then the Principal.  You are welcome to do this, but it will be necessary to make an appointment to avoid clashing with meetings and other arrangements.

·          School wide issues should be discussed with the Principal.  If further communication is then required, a formal letter should be addressed to the BOT.

·          Parents are urged to take an active interest in school organisations and to attend school functions.  Small worries can often be ironed out then while teachers and parents work together to advantage the child’s progress.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS AND TELEPHONE NUMBER

It is vital for the school to have up-to-date records of a home address, and home and work phone numbers.  Please advise the school promptly of any changes.

It is necessary for parents to provide some phone numbers where they, or someone responsible can be contacted in the case of sickness or accident.

CONCERNS

Any concerns about respective children’s learning should firstly be discussed with the classroom teacher … secondly with the senior staff member of the team … thirdly, if not totally satisfied, with the Principal.

WITHDRAWALS

Please notify the Principal, in writing or in person, when a withdrawal is to take place.  Time is needed for the return of library books and for a child to have all his or her books and other articles ready to leave the school.
