 Feast Day - 15 August 2011
The Assumption of Mary into Heaven

As always, our Feast Day was a very enjoyable and memorable occasion. We were fortunate this year to be able to celebrate on the actual day. We began the day with shared activities with our buddy classes. Some classes made beautiful stained glass windows, others made crayon and dye art works of Mary, some made mosaic pictures of Our Lady and others made bookmarks.

To ensure that we completed the Inter-House Tapuwae Competition we had the finals at Morning Tea. After a hard fought and exciting match, MacDonald emerged as the winners, with Aubert in second place. Cleary came third and MacKillop was fourth.

After Morning Tea we went down to the Hall for Mass. The celebration of the Eucharist was a wonderful experience and everyone could see the altar as it was set up on the stage. A beautiful prayer focus reminded us of what we were celebrating. Father Maliu was the celebrant as Father Terry was in Madrid for World Youth Day. Fr Maliu wore his chasuble from his ordination.

After lunch we gathered again in the Hall for the culmination of three days of heats for the Star of the Sea Idol. We were amazed at the wealth of talent in our school. Once again the teachers snuck in a last minute entry. Somi Park and Andrew Botting won the Junior Section, John Yang won the Middle Team section and Meggy Laguda won the Senior section. The Star of the Sea Idol was Roy Chou who entertained the audience with his Gummy Bear routine of dancing while twirling hoola hoops.

We thank God for a wonderful community experience of our Feast Day.
