At the direction of the Ministry of Education, the Board of Trustees has implemented an enrolment scheme to provide a mechanism for managing enrolments at the school. The following key factors have been taken into consideration in developing the enrolment scheme:
- In accordance with the integration agreement, preference is given to families with an established connection with the Catholic Church. Preference of enrolment is established by the designated agent of the proprietor in accordance with the revised guidelines approved by the Catholic Bishops of New Zealand 2003.
- The school is traditionally a”parish school” associated with Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish.
- The school is located in Howick and caters generally for Howick residents and for a “growth corridor” through Howick, Dannemora, Baverstock Oaks, and Flat Bush, created in the main because of the continued urban growth in Manukau City.
- Neighbouring integrated Catholic schools are St Mark’s in Pakuranga and St John’s in Otara.
- When a new catholic primary school is established in or near Sancta Maria College we will consult with their Board of Trustees should it be necessary to redefine our school zone.
- Consistent with the special character of the school, provision should be made for siblings to attend the same school.
Maximum Roll
The school’s roll will be managed within the maximum roll prescribed in the school’s integration agreement. The number of places available for non-preference students will be governed by the maximum number allowed under the school’s integration agreement.
